About Me
I’m Frances M. Howell, a scholar who is committed to using feminist research to advocate for health equity in the service of reproductive justice. My work integrates feminism and reproductive justice frameworks into psychological science and research practices. I’m a PhD candidate in the Critical Psychology (CSP) program at The Graduate Center, CUNY. When I’m not busy writing my dissertation, you can find me in my kitchen baking, or on my couch knitting and watching TV with my two cats and partner.
Hello!
I have extensive experience teaching both psychology and gender studies courses. I have taught within the CUNY system at Hunter College and Medgar Evers College, as well as my alma mater The New School, and most recently Barnard College.
I was a member of the Psychology of Women Quarterly’s 2024 Student Advisory Board. Additionally, I’ve served on numerous committees in the CSP Program including the 2023 Admissions Committee, 2021 Program Executive Committee Member, and served on the Colloquia Series Committee from 2019-2022 where I served as student co-chair from 2021-2022.
I hold an MA in General Psychology from The New School for Social Research and prior to beginning my graduate studies, I worked in the fashion industry for over five years in apparel production and majored in Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design.
